Favourites

When I’m online and not replying to emails or (let’s be honest) procrastinating on Facebook, I spend my time on various websites. I’ve listed a few of my favourites here, along with some links to some other local “birthy” businesses that I like. Enjoy!

Local birth related services…

Spring Photography

Talitha is a natural light, documentary style photographer specialising in birth photography.  She is located in the small town of Capel in South West, Western Australia and services the local south west region including Bunbury, Busselton, Dunsborough, Margaret River, Donnybrook, Harvey, Bridgetown and surrounding towns.

Go With The Flow Parenting

Debbie Garbin is a lactation consultant (IBCLC), child health nurse and baby massage instructor. She can help with initiating lactation, settling your baby, child development and can provide help for babies with tongue and lip ties. She offers home visits in the south west as well as clinic visits at Eaton Family Centre and is also available for home visits in the Mandurah area .

Birthrites

Birthrites: Healing After Caesarean aims to provide a support network for women who’ve had a previous c/section(s), and to increase the awareness of these women’s needs to their health-carers within the medical profession by providing telephone support with someone who knows what you’ve experienced, as they’ve had a c/section themselves), monthly “Get-Togethers” (women can be around other like-minded women), increasing women’s awareness of birth choices, increase public and medical awareness of the increasing c/section rate and inform them of the safety of Vaginal Birth After Caesarean (VBAC) in most cases, and so much more.

Australian Doulas

An organisation of certified doulas, trained to support women on an emotional and practical basis and to interact sensitively with all those involved with pregnancy and birth. (This is a wonderful organisation that completed my training through and am now honoured to be a part of).

Helpful birth related websites…

Spinning Babies

Spinning Babies offers a low tech way to reduce birth complications due to fetal malposition. The website shows many techniques and positions which you can do yourself to help your baby rotate itself into a good position for an easier birth. I recommend this website to many of the Mums I support as a doula… I find it one of the most helpful pages I’ve come across.

www.VBACfacts.com

This is a wonderful resource for VBAC Mums! Over the years, Jennifer Kamel slowly and meticulously collected information. And after her son’s VBAC birth in 2007, she created VBACFACTS.com in order to make the information she had compiled easily accessible to others. It’s filled with lots of fascinating information, studies and statistics for women interested in having a VBAC.

My favourite birth related blogs…

Mama Birth

I love reading the birth stories on this blog. If you’re wanting to read some great birth stories in a variety of different situations, I always recommend this blog. And “Mama Birth” has an awesome sense of humour… I totally recommend reading her posts on all things birthy too 😉

Birth Without Fear

January Harshe is a wife and a mother to 6 children. With each of her birth experiences being different, she wanted to inform women of their birth options and then support them in their own individual choices. Since starting her blog, she now has what I’m assuming is one of the biggest followings of readers in the birthy blog world. If you read her posts, you’ll see why. There’s lots of wonderful birth stories on this blog too.

Midwife Thinking

Rachel Reed is an independent midwife, lecturer and self confessed birth nerd. Her posts are fascinating if you’re interested in the medical, scientific and statistical information to do with birth. I find her posts really informative and interesting to read.

Shop online for birthy/pregnancy/baby items…

Book Depository

I love reading about birth. Ina May Gaskin, Marie Mongan… there’s so many amazing authors to choose from. I buy lots of books from the Book Depository. Their prices are fantastic and it’s free delivery worldwide! I don’t think there’s been a book I haven’t been able to find on there yet!

Simply Birth

Buy birth pools, birth balls and belly casts! They sell to Australia, New Zealand and Asia and their items can be used at home or in hospitals. I’ve seen many of their items in action (as well as used some myself!) and they are fantastic quality.

Does it traumatise kids if they see labour and birth?

Trust Breathe Birth - HypnoBirthing in Bunbury & Surrounds shared their event.

{ This Sunday }

Calling all Expectant Mum's and New Mum's!

I have a HypnoMothering® workshop coming up in Bunbury this Sunday! Places are limited so bookings are essential.

I'm not sure when the next one will be scheduled, so if you'd like to take part in this workshop, now is a great time to sign up!

Feel free to share this event with your friends if you know someone who may be interested.

What is it?...

HypnoMothering® is a fun, practical, 2.5 hour class which teaches techniques to help deal with the challenges that new Mums face & help ease the transition into motherhood.

Rather than focusing on "parenting advice" for baby, this class instead discusses things that Mum's deal with themselves, and it offers resources and techniques to help you in those situations (Mum guilt, exhaustion, judgement, loneliness, etc).

It's a class which is designed by Mum's, for Mums.

When: 8th of January 2017

HypnoMothering® for Post Partum Mums: 10am-12.30pm

HypnoMothering® for Pregnant Mums: 2pm-4.30pm

Where: Bunbury Counselling, Spencer Street, Bunbury

Cost: $75 - $100

Bookings Essential.

As well as doing the class itself, you also get 8 relaxation tracks to take home with you. The relaxation tracks are specifically designed to help Mum's with issues such as sleep, bonding and anxiety.

HypnoMothering® is a stand alone class that meshes in well with the HypnoBirthing course, however it can be done by any pregnant Mum or new Mum, regardless of if you have done the HypnoBirthing course or not. You don't need to have done the HypnoBirthing course to do the HypnoMothering® class.

If you'd like to join me, you can enrol directly from my website here: www.trustbreathebirth.com.au/hypnobirthing/enrol-in-a-class/

Some of the topics and techniques covered in HypnoMothering® include:

- Hypnotherapy and other techniques for anxiousness & sleep issues.

- Tips and techniques to guide new mothers through a gentle transition into motherhood.

- Discussions and techniques to Empower new mothers to embrace their own unique journey free from outside expectations or judgment.

- How to make the most of limited sleep or broken sleep cycles

- How to stay calm and centred through stressful situations

- How to develop your maternal instincts

- A safe place for mothers to find focus and clarity amidst the myriad of feelings and challenges that come with motherhood

If you would like to chat more about any of my classes, feel free to pm me. I'm always happy to answer questions!

HypnoMothering® Bunbury Group Classes - January 2017

Trust Breathe Birth - HypnoBirthing in Bunbury & Surrounds shared their event.

2017 marks the year that I will officially be stepping back from doula-ing.

HypnoBirthing, birth education and families will continue to be where my heart lies, but with homeschooling my own 4 kiddos, and my hubby starting up his own mobile mechanic business, my time is pretty stretched so I'll be taking a good look at my HypnoBirthing schedule as well.

Which means that if you'd like to learn HypnoBirthing for your upcoming birth, I can't stress strongly enough, please consider doing my January course to ensure you don't miss out!

If you're pregnant, due in the first half of 2017 and would like to enjoy your pregnancy and want to spend it bonding with your baby, then you're planning to birth your baby without fear, but with confidence and joy, I highly recommend you join my January HypnoBirthing course so you don't miss out! I'm not sure when my next one will be scheduled after that.

Please feel free to share this event with your friends.

I know it's a hard time of year for a family budget, but payment plans are available and I promise you will not regret doing this course. It's totally worth it.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
