What Is HypnoBirthing®?

What is HypnoBirthing® (The Mongan Method)?

HypnoBirthing® is as much as philosophy as it is a technique. It is method of birthing that is based on the belief that all babies should come into the world in an atmosphere of gentility, calm and joy. When a mother is properly prepared for birthing physically, mentally, and spiritually, she can experience that sort of joy, birthing her baby in an easier, more comfortable, and often, even pain-free, manner. Through a well-thought-out program of birth education, deep relaxation, special breathing techniques, visualisation and affirmations, HypnoBirthing® returns to a woman the art of birthing in a way that allows her to summon her natural birthing instincts and to birth her baby in safety and with ease.

HypnoBirthing® is based on the belief that severe discomfort does not need to be a natural accompaniment of birthing when a woman is properly prepared and trusts her birthing body.

What do I actually learn in the HypnoBirthing® (The Mongan Method) course?

HypnoBirthing® is a full childbirth education course and so much more.

Throughout the course, we discuss what your body will be doing during labour and birth and why. We talk about what your baby will be doing during labour and birth and why. The course explains how to work with your body’s birthing process and natural expulsive reflex, to allow your body to do what it was designed to do and does so well. It teaches anatomy, breathing techniques, how different positions, interventions and situations help or hinder the labour and birth process.

It teaches your partner about birth and gives them confidence and tips (and even a cheat sheet!) on how to best support you.

It teaches the history of birth and the medical system.

It explains how fear and stress affects your body’s ability to birth and also affects your baby’s oxygen supply. It’s important to face your fears and work through them and release them, so they don’t become an issue during your labour and birth. HypnoBirthing® helps you do this.

It discusses breastfeeding, care providers, water births, hospital births, home births, cord clamping, scans tests and your options… it goes over SO much over the space of 5 weeks.

But the biggest thing you’ll notice isn’t the specifics of what it teaches. The biggest thing that you’ll notice is what all this information changes your mindset about birth. HypnoBirthing® helps you get back to your instincts. By the end of the course, you will notice that you will be feeling SO much more confident. SO much more informed. And SO much more excited about your upcoming birth than you ever thought possible. It will really ignite a passion inside you, that you may have never realised you had.

And that’s something that you will take with you throughout the rest of your pregnancy, your birth, your post partum period, parenthood, and the rest of your life.

Topics covered in the HypnoBirthing® course include…

– History of Birthing

– How the Uterus & Birthing Muscles Work

– How fear affects your birthing body

– Bonding with baby while you are pregnant

– Selecting Care Providers and Your Birthing Environment

– Preparing your Mind and Body for Birth

– Breathing Techniques for labour

– Relaxation Techniques for pregnancy, labour and birth

– Writing a birth plan

– Breech Babies

– First Breastfeeding

– Baby’s First Hour

… plus of course, it’s a full birth education program, which explains exactly what happens with your body and baby during labour and birth. Knowing this will allow you to work with your labour, and often love the experience, rather than just enduring it. HypnoBirthing is a full, holistic birth education program.

Why HypnoBirthing® (The Mongan Method)?

HypnoBirthing® (The Mongan Method), is the only childbirth education course in the world which is created and endorsed by Marie Mongan herself. If you’ve read the official HypnoBirthing book “HypnoBirthing: The Mongan Method”, and thought it was wonderful, this is the course for you.

HypnoBirthing® (The Mongan Method), is now taught in over 40 countries worldwide and has been used by many well known people (including royalty!) for the birth of their babies.

HypnoBirthing® (The Mongan Method) is that popular that there have been people try to imitate this official course and create their own organisation which sounds similar, which can be confusing to parents who are trying to make the best decision for their childbirth education. So to make it easier, make sure that your HypnoBirthing practitioner has the “gold seal” on their website and is teaching “HypnoBirthing®: The Mongan Method”. That’s how you know they have been trained by the official HypnoBirthing® International Institute and you will be learning the official course.

{ What are other people saying? }

“Janelle’s HypnoBirthing classes taught me so much more than I’d have learnt in any antenatal classes. I was able to birth my daughter calmly, knowing and understanding that my body was doing exactly what it was designed for. The classes also gave my partner the tools to be my ultimate birth companion which allowed me to birth completely without fear!” – Hannah K (Australind). First Time Mum (2015)

“Janelle has been my doula and HypnoBirthing practitioner for 2 of my births. She (and HypnoBirthing) opened my eyes to the incredible, physiological process of birth and that it isn’t something to be feared; but to be embraced. She showed me that birth CAN be beautiful and for me, it absolutely was.” – Sashi H (Bunbury). VBAC Mum (2013 & 2015)

“The Hypnobirthing classes really helped me to appreciate and enjoy my pregnancy and birth and have left me with knowledge, wisdom and tools that I can still use my day to day life. Janelle really is such a genuine, caring and encouraging person who knows A LOT about birth.” – Elyshe R (Australind). First Time Mum (2015)

HypnoMothering® is a stand alone class that meshes in well with the HypnoBirthing course, however it can be done by any pregnant Mum or new Mum, regardless of if you have done the HypnoBirthing course or not. You don't need to have done the HypnoBirthing course to do the HypnoMothering® class.

Trust Breathe Birth - HypnoBirthing in Bunbury & Surrounds shared their event.

2017 marks the year that I will officially be stepping back from doula-ing.

HypnoBirthing, birth education and families will continue to be where my heart lies, but with homeschooling my own 4 kiddos, and my hubby starting up his own mobile mechanic business, my time is pretty stretched so I'll be taking a good look at my HypnoBirthing schedule as well.

Which means that if you'd like to learn HypnoBirthing for your upcoming birth, I can't stress strongly enough, please consider doing my January course to ensure you don't miss out!

If you're pregnant, due in the first half of 2017 and would like to enjoy your pregnancy and want to spend it bonding with your baby, then you're planning to birth your baby without fear, but with confidence and joy, I highly recommend you join my January HypnoBirthing course so you don't miss out! I'm not sure when my next one will be scheduled after that.

Please feel free to share this event with your friends.

I know it's a hard time of year for a family budget, but payment plans are available and I promise you will not regret doing this course. It's totally worth it.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
